the trumpet...

Like a rover on the soccer pitch, Steve posesses a variety of musical skills.  While he is primarily a trumpet player, he also plays guitar, bass, drums, and lots of different types of percussion.  He was first bitten by the musician bug when he heard his Uncle Jerry play trumpet with the James Bond Orchestra on the "Goldfinger" soundtrack, and at age 10, he had his first horn.  Steve has been an active performing musician ever since with school concert and jazz bands, the Texas A&M Jazz Band, Phunke Position (hip/hop), Lovespoon Conspiracy (funky reggae/rock), the Suspects (SKA!), and now with Clouseaux.  Influences/faves include: Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Sublime, G-Love & Special Sauce, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Fishbone, and The Skatalites.

Talking with Steve we found out the following:

If you were hired to assassinate someone, who would it be and how would it take place?

Michael Jackson.  I'd tie him up in the Backstreet Boys tour bus...I'd only untie him to have him perform as the opening act.  That ought to do him in!

If you could have dinner with any 5 people (dead or alive) who would they be and what would be for dinner?

Jimi Hendrix
Gene Stallings
Thomas Jefferson
my grandfather, Cliff
Magaret Thatcher

For dinner:  A crawfish boil with a full on Cajun spread  People are a lot less shielded when they're getting their hands dirty!

Do you read?  If so, what are you currently reading?

Yes...currently reading Stolen Lives:  20 Years in a Desert Jail by Malika Oufkir

Ever had a brush with fame?  If so, what happened?

Closest brush with fame I had was when I posed as a flaky surfer in a Mentos commercial.  True to the typical Mentos ad concept, my line (and the accent I was asked to feign) was ridiculous...luckily, it only aired for a little while on MuchMusic.

What is your soft drink of choice and why?

Chocolate milk...does a body good, and the taste is sublime!

Who would win in a battle between Oprah Winfrey and Rosie OGÇÖDonnel?

Oprah, hands down.

Why do the smelly tongues look just as they felt?

Never dealt with any smelly tounges.  I have standards, you know!

What was the first concert you attended?

Ozzy Osbourne, 1986, at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, England

If you were the last one on earth after a massive plague, what would you do on the first day?
Go on a surf trip.  I'd have every break to myself.

If you could be invisible, where would you go and what would you do?
Sneak onto the next space shuttle mission and head out to space.

Besides your significant other (if you have one) who is the sexiest person in the universe?
Heather Graham

If you won the powerball lotto for 100 million, what would you do?

Buy property in Costa Rica, New Mexico, and Texas...then spend the rest of my life travelling the globe while taking travel breaks at my new homes.   Of course, I wouldn't spend all of it so the rest would be given to family and good causes.

What is the meaning of life?

To be a good person, meet as many people and see as many places as you can, and to enjoy your time on earth.

Why Clouseaux?

Great group of people.  Some old friends, some new, but all with some serious talent.  And it's like nothing I've done before.
